The second piece, (still painted using artist’s brushes and oils onto board).

GARDENS
Garden 1 and Garden II, oil on Board, 40 x 40 cm. I’ve been meaning to get on with the Garden series for a long time, and the ‘lockdown’ has finally given me the time to make a start. Garden I and II are inspired by some of the gardens I’ve seen in Cornwall that overlooked the cliffs and the sea.
Drying Times
Plenty of work being done during lockdown 2020. These are from the Field of View, Rock Beach and Weather series, painted in London.
Inspiration...
…comes from many sources. Sometimes it’s a struggle to peer through the grubby windows of a speeding train, though out there somewhere is the farmland, the hills, the skies, the weather - all material for picture making.
Painting sold
Sunset in Cumbria in its new home, some way from Cumbria.
New Series, inspired by a local landscape.
Stannary Street (III), mixed media on canvas, 41 x 30 cm
Studio painting
The visit to Auvers, and reading Bernadette Murphy’s excellent book, Van Gogh’s Ear, provided colour material and inspiration to begin a short series of abstract paintings based on Van Gogh’s painting, The Yellow House.
Claude Monet
Next to visit Monet’s studio and garden at Giverny. This is perhaps a strange way to pay homage to a painter, along with a few thousand other tourists… but the colours were an inspiration, as was the pretty village itself and therefore worth it.
